Four terrorists killed, two jawans martyred in J&K’s Kulgam encounter

Srinagar: In a fierce ongoing encounter with terrorists in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday morning, four terrorists were killed and two soldiers martyred.

The entire area has been cordoned off and a search operation is on to nab them

According to a senior police official, the encounter is currently underway between security forces and terrorists in Fraesal village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam.

The two Rashtriya Rifies (RR) personnel injured in the encounter succumbed to their injuries, said the police official adding that a policeman has also been injured in the operation.

He said that on receiving information about the presence of some terrorists in a house the area, security forces comprising the RR and the Special Operation Group of the state police, surrounded Fraesal village where the terrorists were hiding in a house.

The police official said that as the forces neared the house where the terrorists were hiding, they came under heavy gunfire, leading to a fierce encounter in which four terrorists were killed and three injured terrorists have managed to escape for the present place of hiding.

However the entire area has been cordoned off and a search operation is on to nab them, said the police official.

From the neutralised terrorists, large quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered.
