LeT, Hijbul terrorists jointly carried out attack on Amarnath pilgrims

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday categorically stated that the dastardly terror attack on Amarnath yatra pilgrims on Monday night was the handiwork of Pakistan based terror outfit, Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Security for the ongoing pilgrimage to Amarnath shrine has been beefed up

Stating with authority that the attack was carried out by LeT, J&K inspector general of police, Muneer Khan said that the mastermind of the attack was Pakistani terrorist Ismail.

However, sources in the state security apparatus said that the attack was jointly carried out by the LeT and Hijbul Mujahideen terror outfits operating in the Kashmir valley. “Apart from Ismail, the two other LeT terrorists have been identified and their names are Azad and Muzamil,” said an official adding that there were at least two more local terrorists who were part of the five heavily armed group that attacked the pilgrims.

He said that the area where the attack took place was immediately cordoned off by two companies of the CRPF that rushed to the site from nearby areas. “Some locals have been picked up by the security forces and they are being questioned to nail all those who were responsible for the inhuman act,” the official said pleading anonymity.

Exuding confidence, the official said that it was only a matter of time before all those responsible for killing the innocent pilgrims were neutralised.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday evening, terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from Amarnath and killed seven and injured 15 others in Batingoo area of Anantnag district.

After the Monday’s attack, security for the ongoing pilgrimage to Amarnath shrine has been beefed up.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and other senior ruling PDP-BJP leaders and senior civil and police officers laid wreaths on their bodies before they were flown to Gujarat.
