Night-long encounter ends in J&K’s Budgam as three terrorists killed

Srinagar: After a night-long fierce encounter, the security forces succeeded in killing three Hizbul Mujahideen terrrorists early on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Badgam district.

According to a senior police official, the encounter began on Tuesday evening after security forces launched a search operation following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Radbugh village in Budgam’s Magam area at around 7.30 pm.

He said that the neutralised terrorists – identified as Javid Sheikh, a resident of Churpora Narbal, Dawood Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Mustafa Abad Zainakote and Aaquib Gul – belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit headed by Syed Salahuddin, declared a global terrorists by the United States.

Among the slain terrorists, Javed Sheikh was the district commander of the Hizbul.

Three weapons, besides large quantity of ammunition was recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.

Even though the Budgam encounter has ended, search operations were still on in the area, said the police official.
