Terrorists ambush police bus in Srinagar, one cop martyred, 7 injured

Srinagar: A head constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was martyred and seven others injured when terrorists ambushed a police party in Pantha Chowk area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Friday evening.

The martyred cop was identified as head constable Krishan Lal

A senior police official said that a police bus of J&K Armed police (JKAP) came under terror attack near Zewan (in Pantha Chowk) in outskirts of Srinagar at around 8 pm.

He said that eight policemen were injured, one of whom succumbed to his injuries when terrorists attacked the bus at around 8 pm while returning to JKAP headquarters after day long duty.

Out of the seven injured, condition of two policemen is stated to be critical.

The martyred cop was identified as head constable Krishan Lal.

Immediately fater the incident, the security forces swung into action and have cordoned the area. Till reports last came in an intensive search operation was on in the area to nab or neutralise the terrorsits responsible for thr ghastly act.

Meanwhile, Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
