Top LeT terrorist involved in murder of Lt Umar Fayyaz killed in Kulgam

Srinagar: Hardcore Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist involved in Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz’s killing was killed on Saturday morning in an encounter with security forces near Tantripuraa village of Kulgam district.

The encounter was on as the accomplices of Padder were engaged in the gunfight with the security forces

Confirming the development, a senior police official said that LeT terrorist Ishfaq Padder was involved in the murder of Lt Umar Fayaz and was neutralised by the security forces in an encounter in Behibagh area of Tantripora.

He said that on recieving specific input about the presence of some LeT terrorists in Kulgam, a joint team of 62 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG of the state police along with the CRPF laid a cordon to trap the terrorists.

“As the security forces closed in, the hiding terrorists fired at them triggering a fierce encounter in which the dreaded LeT terrorists Ishfaq Padder was killed,” said the police official.

He said that the encounter was on as the accomplices of Padder were engaged in the gunfight with the security forces.

It may be recalled that the bullet-riddled body of 22-year-old Lt Umar Fayaz was found in Harmen area of Shopian in South Kashmir on May 10, hours after he was abducted by terrorists from Batpura village where he had gone to attend his cousin’s wedding.

Meanwhile, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in Shopian and Kulgam districts after the killing of LeT terrorist Padder.
