Pakistan again violates ceasfire in Poonch and Rajouri, heaving firing on

Jammu: In order to push in terrorists, the Pakistani Army has been frequently indulging in ceasefire violation with the latest such incident being reported from Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

He clarified that Pakistan’s aggression is addressed locally by the field commanders

According to reports, heavy firing exchanges started on Tuesday between Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts as the Pakistani army resorted to unprovoked firing.

Defence Ministry sources said that the Pakistani Army targeted defence and civilian facilities in Poonch’s Bhimber Gali sector and in Rajouri’s Balakote, Manjakote, Lambi Bari and Naika Panjgrian areas.

“Firing by the Pakistan army started at around 8.45 am. The Pakistani troops used small arms, automatics and mortars. Our positions effectively and strongly retaliated,” said sources in the defence establishment.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday Lieutenant General AK Bhatt, commander of army’s Srinagar headquartered 15 Corps said that the increasing ceasefire violations by Pakistan are aimed at pushing more terrorists into the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC).

Lieutenant General Bhatt, said this while interacting with mediapersons.. H said, “we have inputs that many infiltrators are waiting at the launching pads. We think infiltration will start sooner this year (2018) because of less snow.”

“We are taking counter measures. Whenever there is firing by Pakistan, it is certain that there is an attempt to push infiltrators,”

Bhatt said terrorists waiting across the LoC are in groups of 30-40 at many places from Lepa Valley to Mandal areas on the Pakistani side of the LoC.

The officer said the loudspeaker announcements on the LoC in Uri sector by the Pakistani Army were actually meant for villages on their side.

He said it was not the intention of the Indian Army to open an entire front along the LoC.

On the use of heavy artillery during ceasefire violation, the corps commander said it is always the specific situation that determines the kind of weapons used.

He clarified that Pakistan’s aggression is addressed locally by the field commanders.
