One terrorist killed in J&K’s Kupwara; Two soldiers injured in Shopian

Srinagar: In an encounter with the security forces on Friday, a terrorists was gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district of Kupwara.

According to Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia, the terrorist was killed in the encounter near Trehgam town at 5.30 am.

He said that the operation was based on a specific intelligence inputs and with the security forces succeeding in neutralising the terrorists, the operation has ended.

Meanwhile, two soldiers were injured in a terrorist attack on Friday in Shopian district of the state.

A senior police official said that the terrorists hurled a grenade and then fired at a patrolling party of 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Ahgam village, injuring two soldiers.

The injured soldiers were immediatly shifted to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable and out of danger.

The police official said that immediately after the terrorists attack, a cordon was laid and a search operation was on to nab or neutralise the terrorists responsible for the attack.

On the other hand, an infiltration bid was foiled at the LoC in Keran sector and an infiltrating terrorists was neutralised. Search operation in the area continues, said sources in the defence establishment.
