Security forces kill three terrorists in encounter in J&K’s Tral

Srinagar: In a fierce encounter with the security forces on Tuesday, at least three terrorists were killed in Tral area of Pulwama district.

The hiding terrorists resorted to heavy firing to break the security cordon and escape

According to a senior police official, one CRPF personnel was also injured during the encounter that started in the evening. The injured CRPF personnel was shifted to 92 Base hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

He said that on receiving information about the presence of some terrorists in the area, a cordon and search operation was launched by the Army’s counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Special Operations Group of the state police.

It may be mentioned here that it was the first Cordon and Search Operation launched by the security forces in Tral after the Centre withdrew unilateral suspension of operation against terrorists in the state during the month of Ramzan.

The police official said that as the security forces tightened the cordon, the hiding terrorists resorted to heavy firing to break the security cordon and escape.

However, the security forces responded to the firing by the terrorists, triggering the encounter in which three terrorists were killed, said the police official.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid tweeted, “Firing stopped, all neutralised, two bodies recovered, third being searched. Good job Army / CRPF/J&K Police.”

As reports, one of the terrorists killed in the encounter is believed to be a top commander of Jais-e-Mohammad.
