Three terrorists responsible for killing policeman shot dead in J&K’s Kulgam

Srinagar: Security forces on Sunday shot dead three terrorists involved in abducting and killing of police constable Salem Ahmed Shah following a fierce encounter in Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

As a precautionary measure, the mobile internet has been snapped in Kulgam and Anantnag

The state police chief SP Vaid, while confirimg the reports, said that all the three terrorits involved in killing of the trainee constable Shah have been eliminated during a fierce encounter in Khudwani area of Kulgam district.

Earlier, Vaid on his twitter page said: “Terrorists group that tortured our colleague Mohd Saleem of Kulgam and killed him brutally are all trapped in an encounter with J&K Police/Army/CRPF in Khudwani Kulgam.”

A senior police official said that the security forces on receiving information about the presence of some terrorists, surrounded Khudwani area of Kulgam district.

“As the security cordon closed in, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a fierce encounter that lasted for over two hours,” said the police official adding that the house in which the terrorists were hiding was blown off by the security forces and from the debris of the house bodies of three terrorists along with large quantity of arms and ammunition including two AK-47 rifle was recovered.

It may be mentioned here that the trainee constable, Muhammad Saleem Shah, who had come home on leave from Kathua Police Training School, had been abducted from his home in Matulhama village of the district on Friday evening.

The bullet riddled body of the constable was found on Saturday in Qaimoh area of the same district.

The police official said that one of the three terrorists killed in the encounter is from Pakistan. The other two neutralised terrorists were locals.

However, the neutralised terrorists were later identified as Muawiya, a Pakistani, Suhail Ahmad Dar of Redwani Balaa and Mudassar alias Rahaan of Katarsoo.

As per police records, the slain terrorists were affiliated with the Pakistan based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.

As per a police statement: “Mauwiya’s involvement was established in a number of civilian killings. Suhail, who was working as a labourer earlier after he had dropped out from school, had later joined a terror outfit.”

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, the mobile internet has been snapped in Kulgam and Anantnag.
