Terrorists kill policeman, PDP activist in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: Terrorists carried out two deadly attacks in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday, killing a police sub-inspector and a political activist associated with Mehbooba Mufti’s party.

Mir worked in the state intelligence department and was posted in Srinagar

According to a police official, a group of terrorists intercepted a private vehicle driven by police sub-inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir in Wahibugh area of Pulwama district.

He said that the sub-inspector was forcibly taken out of his vehicle, taken some distance away from the road and then shot dead from close range.

Mir worked in the state intelligence department and was posted in Srinagar.

In another attack, terrorists targeted a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) activist, Muhammad Amin, in Gangbugh area on the outskirts of Srinagar district.

He was fired at from close range. Injured Amin was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police official said two groups of sniper shooters with M-4 carbines were active in south Kashmir areas.

“Each group of sniper shooters comprises two terrorists each and were associated with Pakistan based terror outfit Jais-e-Mohammad and had recently infiltrated from across the LoC,” said the police official.

He said that the security forces were now drawing fresh strategy to counter the sniper attacks.
