Congress in damage control mode as Digvijay refutes reports on infighting

New Delhi: Hours after reports emerged about a verbal spat between Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia on the isssue of ticket distribution for Assembly election in Madhya Pradesh during a party Central Election Committee meeting, Digvijay issued a statement refuting any such incident.

It is being wrongly reported in press that I and Jyotiraditya Scindhiaji had any argument

Sources said that the verbal duel between the two senior leaders happened in presence of Party president Rahul Gandhi who reportedly had to intervene to calm the soaring tempers. Sensing the incident might have an adverse impact on Congress prospects in the poll bound state, a damage control exercise was initiated at the behest of Rahul Gandhi forcing Digvijay Singh to issue a statement refuting any such incident having taken place.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh refuted media reports that said he got into a spat with senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia during a party meeting over ticket distribution.

“It is being wrongly reported in press that I and Jyotiraditya Scindhiaji had any argument and (Congress President) Rahulji had to intervene. All of us in Madhya Pradesh Congress are one and determined to defeat the corrupt BJP government,” Singh tweeted.

Singh’s clarification came after media reports claimed that Singh and Scindia got into a spat during a party Central Election Committee meeting that took place on Wednesday evening for the selection of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls.
