JeM terrorist killed in J&K’s Tral encounter, arms and ammunition recovered

Srinagar: A Jais-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist has been gunned down by the security forces in an ongoing encounter in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

A senior police official said that the encounter took place in Darganai Gund village of Tral area during a cordon and search operation.

He said that hiding terrorists opened fire at the security forces including the Rashtriya Rifles, the special operations group (SOG) of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), triggering an encounter in which till reports last came in a JeM terrorists was neutralised.

Large quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site, said the police official adding that a policeman was also injured in the encounter.

Authorities suspended mobile Internet services in the area to prevent the spread of rumours.

Earlier in the day, Pakistani troops fired at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Rajouri district, injuring a BSF jawan.

Later, the Pakistan army violated the ceasefire once again in Tangdhar sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Defence sources said Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian posts in Dhani, Sadpora and Amru areas along the LoC in Tangdhar sector on Friday.

Sources said that the provoked aggression of the Pakistan army was retaliated to be the Indian forces in s strong and effective manner.

No casualty or damage was reported from the Indian side, sources added.
