Cold wave intensifies in Jammu & Kashmir, Kargil coldest

Srinagar: The cold wave has intensified in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday with the minimum temperatures dropping several notches below the freezing point, the weather office said.

Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 4.2 degrees Celsius

The minimum temperatures were likely to drop further in the next four to five days as dry weather with clear night sky is expected during this period, an official of the Met department said.

Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 4.2 degrees Celsius and at minus 19.0 degrees, Drass town in Kargil district was the coldest in the state, according to the official.

The minimum temperatures in Leh, Kargil, Gulmarg and Pahalgam on Saturday were minus 13.6 degrees Celsius, minus 10.2, minus 11.5 and minus 9.5, respectively.

In the Jammu region, the minimum temperatures in Jammu, Katra, Batote, Bannihal and Bhaderwah were 5.5 degrees Celsius, 5.8, 0.6, 3.1 and minus 2.0, respectively.
