Six terrorists including Zakir Musa deputy killed in J&K’s Pulwama

Srinagar: In a big blow to terrorist groups operating in the Kashmir valley, six terrorists of the Al Qaeda-affiliate Zakir Musa’s group Ansar Ghazwatul Hind were killed in a clean operation on Saturday morning by the security forces in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The identity of the other slain terrorists is being ascertained

Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said, “six terrorists have been killed in the Tral area encounter. Weapons and war-like stores have been recovered. The operation is over,” said the defence spokesman.

Giving details of the encounter, a senior police official said that among the neutralised terrorists were Zakir Musa’s deputy and a Pakistani national.

He said that one of the neutralised terrorists was identified as Soliha, alias Rehaan Khan, the deputy chief of Zakir Musa’s terror outfit.

The police official said that security forces comprising the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and special operations group (SOG) of the state police surrounded Arampora village early morning on receiving specific inputs about presence some terrorists in the area.

He said that as the security cordon was tightened, the hiding terrorists fired triggering the encounter in which six terrorists were killed belonging to Zakir Musa’s terror outfit, Ansar Ghazwatul Hind.

The identity of the other slain terrorists is being ascertained, added the police official.

There was no collateral damage in the operation.

As a precautionary measure, the mobile Internet service in the district and rail services between the valley and the Bannihal town of Jammu region was suspended.
