Three terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in J&K’s Pulwama

Srinagar: Three terrorists including a Hizbul commander responsible for killing of Army jawan Auranzeb were killed on Saturday in a fierce gunfight with the security forces Pulwama district of the state.

A senior police official said that bodies of the three terrorists killed in the encounter have been recovered

“Three terrorists have been killed in Panzgam operation. Weapons and war-like stores were recovered,” Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.

On the other hand, a senior police official said that bodies of the three terrorists killed in the encounter have been recovered.

He said that the neutralised Hizbul commander was identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, a resident of the same village, where the operation was conducted. He was responsible for the killing of Army jawan Aurangzeb.

The exact identities of the other two terrorists were yet to be established, said the police official who added that all of them belonged likely to the Hizbul Mujahiddin terror outfit.

The police official said that on receiving specific inputs about presence of some terrorists, the security forces comprising 130 Battalion CRPF, 55 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) cordoned off the area on Friday night and launched a search operation in Panzgam.

“As the security cordon tightened on Saturday morning, the hiding terrorists opened fire triggering the encounter in which two terrorists were initially killed,” said the police official. He said that the firing from the house in which the terrorists were hiding, started again and the security forces had no other option but to blast the house from where the firing restarted, killing the third terrorist.

Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in the area.

Meanwhile, a separate encounter broke out between terrorists and joint forces in Dehruna village of Anantnag district. Till reports last came in, the operation was on.
