Two suspected LeT terrorists killed in J&K’s Pulwama, searches on

Srinagar: Two suspected Lashkar-eTaiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on Friday.

Two more terrorists are believed to be hiding in the vicinity of the encounter site

The operation was carried out by 55RR, Pulwama Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

According to a police official, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Braw Bandina area of Awantipora district in south Kashmir after receiving intelligence input about the presence of some terrorists in the area.

As the forces were conducting searches in the area, the hiding terrorists fired upon them, triggering a fierce encounter in which two terrorists were neutralised, said the police official adding that the bodies of the slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.

Both the terrorists killed by the security forces are believed to be affiliated to Pakistan based terror outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba, said the police official.

He, however, said that the exact identity of the neutralised terrorists is being established with searches still going on in the area as two more terrorists are believed to be hiding in the vicinity of the encounter site, added the police official.

“#Awantipora #encounter update: 02 #terrorists killed. #Arms & #ammunition recovered. #Identities & #affiliations are being ascertained,” was the update on the official twitter handle of J&K Police.

As a precautionary measure, train and internet services have been shut down in the area.
