Two jawans martyred, civilian killed in Pakistan firing at LoC in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar: In a fresh ceasefire violation by the Pakistani army, two Indian Army jawans were martyred on Sunday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara’s Tangdhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

The two injured civilians were immediately shifted to a hospital where their condition is being monitored

A senior police official said that a civilian was also killed while two more jawans injured in the Pakistani firing from across the border to facilitate infiltration of terrorists waiting at its launch pads at the LoC.

The police official said that the two injured jawans and a civilian were immediately shifted to a hospital where their condition is being monitored by the medical staff.

He said that the Pakistani troops started heavy firing and shelling along the LoC at around 10 pm on Saturday night and continued till on Sunday.

However, the Indian Army has been strongly retaliating to unprovoked Pakistan aggression, causing heavy damage on the enemy side, said sources.

Till reports last came in, the firing exchanges were on in the sector with locals advised to remain inside their houses till situation eases, said sources.

The official further said that the series of unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops was aimed at pushing terrorists from along the LoC in the state of J&K before the advent of winters.

“Till date all major infiltration bids by the enemy forces have been foiled by the alert Indian troops,” added the official.
