Four terrorists killed in J&K’s Anantnag encounter, search operation on

Jammu: The security forces on Sunday killed at least four terrorists in a fierce encounter in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the police, the encounter broke out in the wee hours of Sunday at Dayalgam area in Watrigam in Anantnag.

Acting on a specific input, a team of security personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Army cordoned off the area in the night. As the security forces zeroed in on the house, where the terrorists were holed up, the terrorists opened fire triggering the encounter in the wee hours of Sunday.

In the fierce exchange of fire four terrorists were killed.

“An encounter broke out with terrorists at around 10.40 am today (Sunday) in Dayalgam residential area in Anantnag. After the operation, troops recovered dead body of four terrorists,” the CRPF official said.

During the search operation, ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.

Sources said that one of the four terrorists is believed to be linked to the Pakistan-backed Hizbul Mujahideen while the other three were associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit.

Till reports last came in, search operation was underway in the area.
