Terrorists kill an SPO, civilian in J&K’s Sopore, encounter continues

Srinagar: An SPO and a civilian were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town on Wednesday evening.

Sources said that the terrorists opened fire on the unarmed Special Police Officer (SPO) when he had gone to a mobile phone shop in Warpora area, killing him and the shop keeper at the spot.

The killed SPO was identified as Wajahat Ahamd and the shopkeeper as Umar.

Sources said that the security forces immediately swung into action and cordoned off the area to launch a serch operaion.”As the secu5rity cordon tightened, the heavily armed terrorists resorted to firing to break the cordon and escape,” said sources.

Till reports last came, the encounter in the Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir was on.

Meanwhile, another encounter broke out between terrorists and the security forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Zenipora village on Wednesday evening on receiving information about presence of some terrorists . As the security cordon tightened, the terrorists hiding in a house opened fire that was retaliated by the security forces.

The exchange of fire was going on till the last reports came in.
