Four Hizbul terrorists responsible for killing 3 civilians killed in J&K’s Kulgam

Srinagar: The security forces on Saturday killed four Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists who may were involved in killing of three civilian, were killed in J&K’s Kulgam district after a fierce encounter.

In this encounter that ended an hour back, three soldiers were also injured, said a police official.

He said that on receiving information about the presence of some terrorists in the area, the security forces comprising the SOG of J&K police, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF surrounded an orchard area on Friday night.

“In wee hours of Saturday, the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists who opened fire triggering a fierce encounter,” said the police official.

He said that all four terrorists killed in the gun battle with the security forces in Hardmanguri Batpora village belonged to Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam.

“The encounter has ended. Bodies of four neutralised terrorists affiliated to Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen have been recovered. Three army soldiers sustained injuries in this operation, ” said the police official.

The slain terrorists were responsible for three civilian killings in Kulgam district earlier this week.

The police official further said that one of the injured soldier sustained a bullet injury while two sustained splinter injuries. Al the three injured soldiers have been shifted to hospital, added the police official.

Meanwhile, in a major breakthrough, the security forces had on Friday busted a Lashkar-e-Toiba-linked terror module and arrested four terrorists and five overground workers of the outfit in two operations.

According to reports, the four LeT terrorists and five OGWs were arrested from Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara and Sopore areas.

The security forces had launched a search operation in Gund Chogal village in Kupwara district’s Handwara area after receiving inputs about the presence of some terrorists there.

A large cache of arms including – three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, 332 AK-47 rounds, 12 hand grenades, three pistols and six pistol magazines – were also seized from them.
