Three civilians killed in Pakistani shelling on LoC in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar: Three civilians were killed on Sunday in shelling by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Kupwara district on Sunday.

The Indian positions retaliated effectively

Out of the three civilian casualities, two were reported from Kupwara and the third one was from Handwara.

Sources said three people, including a woman and a baby, were killed when a mortar shell fired by Pakistani troops exploded in civilian area of Kupwara district close to the LoC.

The Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire on the LoC in Kupwara district on Sunday morning after which the Indian positions retaliated effectively.

As per latest reports, the firing exchanges have stopped in the area now and district officials including the police were evacuating residents living close to the LoC in the affected areas.

The area has been tense for the last few days as there had been heavy exchange of gunfire and shelling at the LoC in Keran sector in Kupwara since Friday.

The Indian Army on Saturday had pounded a terror launch pad alongwith destroyimng an ammunition depot and also hitting a pakistani brigade headquarters killing a large number of terrorists and pakistan army personnel.
