President’s address gave in-depth picture of transformative changes: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lauded President Droupadi Murmu’s address to both the houses as the Budget Session kicked off today. He said that the address by the President gave an in-depth picture of the transformative changes.

In the around hour-long speech, President Murmu touched upon India’s ongoing presidency of the G20, chairship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as well as its role in the Quad with a focus on working for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

She emphasised the concept of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India). She stated that India has entered a period of “Amrit Kaal”, marking its 75 years of independence and setting the stage for the next 100 years towards development. The President urged all citizens to focus on their duties in the next 25 years.

She said that India has entered Amrit Kaal completing its 75 years of Independence. Amrit Kaal is a period of 100 years of Independence and making of a developed India. These 25 years is a period for all citizens to focus on duty.

The President said that Azadi ka Amrit Kaal’ assimilates the pride of thousands of years of our glorious past, the inspirations of Indian freedom struggle and India’s resolve for a golden future. She added that by 2047, we have to build a nation, which not only embraces its glorious past but also encompasses every golden aspect of modernity.

Calling the PM Narendra Modi-led government stable, fearless, and decisive, the President said that it is working towards realising the big dreams. The government has worked for every section of society without any discrimination, she said. As a result of the efforts of my government in the last few years, many basic facilities have either reached 100 per cent population or are very close to that target.

The budget session of the parliament began today with the President’s address and will be followed by the tabling of the Economic Survey by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The first part of the session will go on till February 10.
