Army foils iniltration bid in J&K’s Keran sector, 6 terrorists killed

Srinagar: Alert security forces on Sunday foiled yet another infiltration bid from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara districts and succeeded in killing six terrorists.

It was the third futile bid by terrorists to infiltrate from across the LoC

Confirming the development, Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that an infiltration bid from across the border was foiled in Keran sector of Kupwara district on Sunday and in the process sx terrorists have been killed so far.

He said that the operation in the area was on as more terrorists were expected to be hiding in the sector.

Large quantity of arms and ammunition including five AK series riffles have been recovered from the neutralised terrorists, said an official.

It may be mentioned here that it was the third futile bid by terrorists to infiltrate from across the LoC in the last 20 days.

Meanwhile, two Indian Army soldiers were injured in a mine explosion near the LoC in Poonch district.

The injured soldiers have been identified as Arun Hundre and Akshay Kumar. They were injured late on Saturday during patrolling in Sabjian sector of the LoC in Poonch as they accidentally stepped on a mine laid by the enemies.

Both of the injured soldiers were shifted to a hospital for treatment where their condition was stated to be stable and out of danger.
