Srinagar: Yet another infiltration bid was foiled at the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district on Monday and in the process an infiltrating terrorists was gunned down by the Army.
According to defence sources, the alert troops of the Army noticed suspicious movement in Safawali Gali and challenged the infiltrators who resorted to indiscriminate firing triggering a fierce encounter.
In the exchange of fire one of the infiltrating terrorstist killed.
Two armymen were also injured in the encounter with the infiltrating terrorists. Both the injured armymen were shifted to the army base hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, the security forces have cordoned the entire area as the operation against the infiltrating terrorists still continues, defence sources said adding the locals were asked not to go near the encounter site.
Sources said that the neutralised terrorist was a Pakistani national. An AK series rifle and large quantity of ammunition was recovered from the place where the body of the slain terrorists was recovered.
