Three terrorists killed, soldier martyred in J&K’s Bandipora encounter

Srinagar: Three unidentified terrorists were killed in a counter-terrorist operation on Saturday by the army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Two army soldiers had sustained injuries during the operation on Friday

However, one soldier was also martyred in the operation that continued for last three days in higher reaches of Chandajan forests in Bandipora district, said an official.

Sources said that two army soldiers had sustained injuries during the operation on Friday and one of them succumbed to injuries in the hospital on Saturday. Condition of the other injured soldier is stated to be stable.

Confirming the reports, Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said, “three terrorists have been killed in an operation by the army in Chandajan forest area.” .

“Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists whose exact identity is being ascertained,” he said.

The operation has now ended, added the defence spokesman.
