Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday that the youth killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday in Hazratbal area of Srinagar city was an active terrorist of the Islamic State.
The police said the slain terrorist has been identified as Asif Nazir Dar of Panzgam Awantipora in Pulwama district.
A pistol along with one magazine was recovered from terrorist killed by unidentified assailant.
Sources claimed that the slain IS terrorist was killed as a result of internal rivalry.
An identity card recovered from the slain person, which made the police initially believe that he was Ishfaq Ahmad, a student of the Islamic University, was denied by the university authorities.
The Islamic University authorities said that the killed IS terrorist was not their student.
