Jammu: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and a forest guard were injured on Wednesday in firing by terrorists on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district.

According to a police official, two to three terrorists were travelling in a truck from Jammu to Srinagar opened fire at a checkpost near the Jhajar Kotli police station as the vehicle was stopped by the security forces for checking.
“After firing at the security forces, the terrorists whose number was between two and three, managed to escape in a nearby forest where a massive search has been launched to nab or neutralise them,” said the police official.
He said that the police has seized the truck and detained the driver and helper for questioning.
An AK-47 rifle and three magazines were also recovered from the truck, said the police official.
He said that an alert has also been sounded on the national highway after the incident.
Meanwhile, the injured persons were shifted to hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
