Two suspected JeM terrorists arrested from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Two terrorist suspects from Jammu and Kashmir have been arrested from Deoband in Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh said on Friday.

The DGP also said that one of the arrested JeM terrorist was an expert in grenade handling

Talking to reporters, the UP DGP said the two were caught by the Anti-Terror Squad of the Uttar Pradesh police on the basis of intelligence inputs on Thursday night.

Singh said that on the basis of inputs gathered by the ATS, the two arrested youths owed allegiance to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit and while one, Shahnawaz, hailed from Kulgam, the other, Aquib, was from Pulwama district. Both of them were between the age of 20-25 years.

Two weapons and some cartridges were recovered from the arrested JeM terrorists.

The DGP also said that one of the arrested JeM terrorist was an expert in grenade handling.

Refusing to divulge an further details, the police official said that investigations were on and after seeking their custody from the court, further interrogation would be carried out to establish as to who all were funding their operations and how many more were associated with their activities which was primarily aimed at recruiting gullible youth into the terror fold.
