After Eid prayers, clashes at some places in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar: With Centre comming down heavily on terror groups operating in the Kashmir valley, clashes erupted on Wednesday between stone-pelters and security forces in Srinagar, Sopore, Anantnag and Kupwara towns in the Kashmir Valley after Eid prayers.

Similar demosntrations were reported from Sopore, Anantnag and Kupwara towns

Delivering the Eid prayer sermon at the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said India and Pakistan need to sit across the table to resolve the Kashmir issue.

“Our people have made huge sacrifices and unless India and Pakistan engage in a meaningful dialogue, the problem will persist,” Mirwaiz Umar said.

Immediately after the Eid prayers, dozens of locals displayed flags of various terror outfits including ISIS and there after they tried to march on the road where they were blocked by the alert security forces.

When the stone pelters were intercepted by police, clashes occurred in which some locals were reportedly injured.

Similar demonstrations were reported from Sopore, Anantnag and Kupwara towns.
