Lucknow: Wife of a bureaucrat in Uttar Pradesh has allegedly committed suicide in Chinhat area here.
According to reports, the deceased, Anita, allegedly shot herself dead with a pistol owing to some differences within the family.
Her husband, IAS officer Umesh Pratap Singh, is currently posted in the urban development department.
All members of the family were at home when she allegedly committed suicide.The fact came to light when the police questioned her son, Ashutosh Singh.
Police sources said that the incident occurred at around 2.30 pm on Sunday. Ashutosh, along with his father and two domestic helps were present at the residence.
On hearing the sound of a gunshot, Ashutosh rushed out of his room and saw his father banging the door in a bid to open it. When the door was opened, they found Anita soaked in blood on a sofa in the room.
The police said that the pistol was a licensed one and was in the deceased’s name.
Anita was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide but the police is probing all possible angles, said an official. .
