New Delhi: One terrorist was gunned down while a few more have reportedly been trapped as an encounter broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora on Sunday.
The entire area has been cordoned off by the police and security forces.
Sources said,” more terrorists were hiding in Bandipora and encounter is underway to flush them out.”
The encounter started when security forces on receiving tip off about some terrorists hiding in Vijhara area of Lawdara village, launched a search operation and as the security cordon tightened, the hiding started firing, triggering a fierce encounter.
The identity of the slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained.
Heavy gunfire continued between the security forces and the hiding terrorists till reports last came in.
