Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said that the time given to them by Governor BS Koshyari to provide him with their letters of support was not sufficient.

Talking to the mediapersons, Ajit Pawar said that the Governor had asked the NCP for the names of all the MLAs, their constituency and their signature, supporting it for the formation of government. “The time given to us for this exercise is insufficient and it is not possible for us to furnish the names with signatures of legislators support our alliance,” said Pawar.
Asked to spell out delay on the part of the Congress in clearing its stand on the issue, Pawar said that the Central leadership of the Congress needs time to ponder over the suggestions given by the state leadership to it.
Sources said that the NCP has kept all its options open. “Even if there is no agreement now and President rule is imposed, later too when Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP come together, a stable government can take shape,” said sources.
However, taking a jibe at the Congress, Ajit Pawar said,”NCP is fully prepared for the formation of government in the state but the letter did not come from the Congress party. The churning phase is still going on in the Congress party,” he said.
