Srinagar: Security forces have gunned down two terrorists in an ongoing encounter that broke out in Arrah area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam on Saturday morning.
According a senior police official, on receiving specific inputs about presence of some terrorist in Arrah area of Kulgam in south Kashmir, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
As the security forces came close to the place where the terrorists were hiding, terrorists started indiscriminate firing to break the security cordon and escape. However, in the retaliatory fire, two terrorists were neutralised till reports last came in.
The identity and affiliation of the killed terrorists is still to be established said a police official..
Meanwhile, in another development, the police busted a terrorist hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The police said that UBGLs (under barrel grenade launcher), UBGL grenades, AK magazine, pistols, detonators with IED making materials and a pressure mine, along with other arms and ammunition from the hideout.
