Chennai: AIADMK legislators backing General Secretary VK Sasikala and housed in a beach resort near here on Tuesday elected Edapadi K Palanisamy as their leader of the legislature party.
And in her capacity as the party chief, Sasikala sacked acting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam as a primary member of the AIADMK.
The emergency move comes after the Supreme Court restored the conviction of Sasikala and two of her relatives in a case of holding disproportionate assets.
Sasikala was recently elected as leader of the AIADMK legislature party so that she could become the Chief Minister in place of Panneerselvam.
