Jammu: For the fifth consecutive day Indian and Pakistani army exchanged heavy shelling and firing on Wednesday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

According to Defence ministry spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta, “Pakistan army started unprovoked ceasefire violation in Balakot sector at 12.50 am which continued till 1.30 am today (Wednesday).”
He said that the Indian troops have befittingly replied to the shelling and firing from the Pakistani side.
Pakistani troops also targeted forward posts and civilian areas along the LoC in Rajouri district on Tuesday night.
A similar assault with small arms, automatic weapons and mortar fire was launched in Nowshera sector earlier in the evening on Tuesday.
