Two heavily armed terrorists killed in Kashmir’s Sopore

Srinagar: In an encounter that took place early on Thursday morning morning between security forces and terrorists, two terrorists were killed in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The identity of the terrorists is yet to be ascertained

According to a senior police official, after identifying the two terrorists who were instrumental in throwing a grenade on the security forces on Wednesday in Sopore town in which four policemen were injured, the location of the two terrorists was established.

Once the location of the two terrorists was known, the security forces comprising the 22 Rashtriya Rifles, 92, 177 and 179 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the police cordoned the area at around 3.30 am. “After a brief encounter, both of the hiding terrorists were neutralised in Nathipora village of Sopore,” said the police official.

The identity of the terrorists is yet to be ascertained, added the police official.

Two AK-47, five magazines, 107 live rounds, 2 pouches and Rs 2000 in cash has been recovered from the two terrorists, added the police official.
