Srinagar: Good sense prevailed on a young Hizbul terrorist as he surrendered before the Jammu and Kashmir police.
Giving this information here, a police official said here on Wednesday that the surrendered terrorists has been identified as Danish Ahmed of Kulangam village in Handwara and is a third year B Sc student at Dehradun in Uttrakhand.
It may be mentioned here that the said terrorists displayed weapons at the funeral of Hizbul terroristr Sabzar Bhat.
He was filmed wearing a battle pouch with a grenade at the funeral of Sabzar Bhat.
Needless to mention that the said photo, like many others, went viral on social media.
Danish had been involved in stone-pelting at Handwara in 2016 and was picked up by the police but let off after counselling.
The police official said that after it was learnt that Danish had joined militancy, the Rashtriya Rifles personnel with the help of local police got in touch with his parents and impressed upon them to counsel their son to surrender.
After being convinced that after surrendering, Danish would be dealt fairly under law, his parents convinced him to surrender to the Handwara police and Rashtriya Rifles.
Ahmed told police that he was in touch with terrorists of south Kashmir on social media, and it was at their instigation that he decided to become a terrorist.
He also informed the security officials that he was tasked by Hizbul Mujahideen commanders to activate some local youths in north Kashmir and make the region as terrorist-infested as the three districts of south Kashmir .
