Three terrorist killed near LoC in J&K’s Kupwara

Srinagar: In an ongoing encounter with hiding terrorists near the the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, three terrorists were killed by the security forces on Wednesday eveing.

The operation was still on in the densely forested area with the hiding terrorists

According to a senior police official, the encounter took place in Machil sector of the LoC in Kupwara district.

The police official said that the encounter started after the security forces comprising the counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles cordoned off an area in Sardari Nad forests near the LoC on receiving information about presence of some terrorists who had infiltrated from across the LoC.

“As the security forces closed, the hiding terrorists fired at them to break the security cordon, triggering a fierce encounter in which three of the hiding terrorists have been neutralised,” said the police official.

Large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists, said the police official.

He further said that till reports last came in, the operation was still on in the densely forested area with the remaining hiding terrorists.
