New Delhi: After showing the gumption to abuse the Indian Army chief, sensing outrage, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Sunday offered an apology.

Dikshit described Army chief General Bipin Rawat as a “sadak ka goonda” (street ruffian) and it caused outrage from all quarters, except for some who are considered to be Pakistan proxies.
Dikshit came under attack from the Bharatiya Janata Party, which also asked the Congress to take action against the former MP.
“I have reservations on a comment of the Army chief but I should have chosen appropriate words. I apologize,” Dikshit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, tweeted after BJP leaders and Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju slammed him.
“What’s wrong with Congress? How dare Congress call Indian Army chief as ‘sadak ka gunda’!!” Rijiju tweeted.
Dikshit told a journalist that it was understandable if the Pakistan Army chief used foul language but wondered why the Indian Army chief was giving statements like a “sadak ka goonda”.
General Rawat, who had called the stone pelters in the Kashmir valley as over ground workers of the terrorists operating in the area, had been on the target of peaceniks.
Besides that Gen Rawat had also commended Major Gogoi, who came up with an out of box move by using one of the stone pelters as human shield to safely evict ITBP personnel and some polling officials from the wrath of the violent stone pelters. Even this decision of Major Gogoi did not go well with those who act as Pakistan’s proxy.
