Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an ongoing fierce encounter between the security forces and the terrorists that broke out early on Sunday morning in Bandipora district of North Kashmir.

However, in this raging encounter a policeman of the state’s special operation group was martyred and another injured.
A senior police official said that on receiving inputs about the presence of some terrorists in Mir Mohalla village in Hajin area of the district, a search operation was launched earlier on Sunday.
When the forces were conducting searches, the terrorists opened fire on them, triggering a a fierce encounter, said the police official.
In this ongoing encounter, two policemen were injured and one of them succumbed to his injuries at an Army base hospital in Srinagar, said the police official.
He said that though two of the hiding terrorists have been neutralised, it is believed that there are at least two more terrorists trapped and were engaged in the encounter with the security forces comprising the Rashtriya Riffles, the CRPF and the SOG of the state police.
The police official said that one of the slain terrorist has been identified as Ali Bhai, a LeT terrorist from Pakistan.
There have also been reports of youths pelting stones on the security forces to disturb the ongoing operation.
The martyred Jammu and Kashmir Police constable is Zahir Abbas, added the police official.
