Terrorists kill BJP youth leader in J&K’s Shopian

Srinagar: Terrorists abducted and later killed a Bharatiya Janata Party youth leader in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian on Thursday.

According to a senior police official, BJP youth leader Gowhar Ahmad Bhat was abducted by suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who after torturing him, slit his throat and dumbed his body at a secluded place in the village. The body of the BJP leader was spotted by the locals who informed the police that has been investigating the matter.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah condoled Bhat’s death, calling him a “martyr”.

“Pained to learn about the brutal murder of our BJYM District President Gowhar Ahmed in Shopian, J&K. My deepest condolences to his family,” Shah said in a series of tweets.

“BJP stands firmly with the family of martyr Gowhar Ahmed in this moment of immense grief. Terrorists must realise that they cannot stop the youth of the valley from choosing a better future for themselves,” said the BJP chief.

Besides, BJP chief Amit Shah, J&K chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and leader of opposition and national Conference chief Omar Abdullah have also condemned the killing of BJP youth leader.
