Kolkata: A wild elephant trampled a man to death in northern West Bengal’s Dooars forest area, forest officials said.

The pachyderm attacked Rahman, stepped on him, and kicked him repeatedly

The incident took place on Thursday night on the Lataguri-Mahakal Mandir Road of Jalpaiguri district as Sadik Rahman, 40, a security guard, made no attempt to step into his vehicle, which is the normal custom when any elephant crosses a highway.

The pachyderm attacked Rahman, stepped on him, and kicked him repeatedly from one side of the road to the middle, the officials added.

He died on the spot.
