Srinagar: A top Jais-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

According to Jammu and Kashmir police chief SP Vaid, an encounter had started between the security forces and holed up terrorists in Samboora village after the area was surrounded by the security forces late on Monday evening.
The police chief said that on receiving specific information about two to three terrorists hiding in the area, the security forces launched an operation to either nab or neutralise them.
However, when the security cordon tightened, the hiding terrorists whose exact number was still not known, fired at the security forces triggering a fierce encounter, said the police chief.
Sources said that top JeM terrorist Noor Muhammad Tantray alias Noor Trali, belonged to the Tral area and was the regional commander of the terror outfit has been neutralised. “At least three more terrorists including two Pakistani are trapped in the area with encounter still on,” said sources.
Tantray was responsible for the militant attack on the Border Security Force’s (BSF) camp near Srinagar airport in October, a police officer said.
