CBI arrests a Delhi Police officer for corruption

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said that it has arrested a Sub Inspector of the Delhi Police on charges of corruption.

The accused will be presented before a court on Wednesday

According to the CBI officials, the accused officer, Virendra Kumar, posted with the pension cell at Parliament Street police station, was demanding a bribe of Rs 22,000 from the complainant.

“We had received a complaint in this regard and a trap was laid accordingly to catch the officer red handed. He was arrested when he was accepting the bribe of Rs 22,000 from the complainant,” a CBI official said.

The accused will be presented before a court on Wednesday.
