New Delhi: Justice Dipak Misra was sworn in as the 45th Chief Justice of India on Monday.

He was administered the oath of office by President Ram Nath Kovind during a brief ceremony in the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
He is succeeding Justice JS Khehar, who retired as CJI on Sunday.
64-year-old Justice Misra is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court after Justice Khehar. He will be the third person from Odisha to be appointed the Chief Justice of India, after Justices Ranganath Misra and GB Pattanaik.
