Lucknow: Barely a week before the 70th Independence Day, security agencies in state’s Amethi railway station found a suspicious unattended package from Amritsar-bound Akal Takhat express train which was later found to be a low intensity device.

According to a senior railway official, the unidentified package was a low-intensity device. “With timely detection of the low intensity device, the security agencies deactivated the same and allowed the train to leave safely for its destination,” said the official.
He said that the said object was detected by one of the passengers in the toilet of a coach and without wasting any time, he informed the coach attendant who in turn informed the higher ups.
Immediately after receiving the information, the said train was stopped at Amethi for checking and two coaches were vacated and bomb disposal squad was also called for deactivating the explosive device.
Besides the explosive package, a threat letter near the package was also recovered.
The letter claims to avenge Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abu Dujana’s killing.
The matter is being probed by state police, added the official.
