Chandigarh: A fire broke out at the Field Ammunition Depot (FAD) in Punjab’s Bhatinda town on Thursday.
According to Army sources, the blaze was detected around 5 am in a shed with low grade ammunition. However, there was no loss of life.
Several fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was finally controlled by 7 am, a district administration official said.
Senior Army officers rushed to the spot.
A probe is likely to be ordered and the damage caused by the fire would be assessed therein.
It may be mentioned here that Bathinda is about 240 km from here.
