Baramulla: In a major step in the war against terror, the Jammu & Kashmir Police along with the Indian Army recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition during a joint operation in the Hathlanga Sector of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla.

The retrieved load included modern weapons including AK-74 assault rifles, pistols and grenades, the police said. A case was registered and an investigation is underway. The seized items included bags of wheat and balloons alongside arms and ammunition from China and Pakistan.
Following is the complete list of items recovered during the joint operation: 8 AK-74u rifles, 24 AK 74 Magazines, 560 rounds of AK Rifle, 12 Chinese Pistols, 24 pistol magazines, 244 rounds of pistol, 9 Chinese grenades, 5 Pak Grenades, 5 wheat bags, 81 Pak Balloons.
Earlier the day, 20 properties of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) organisation in the Valley were attached by the authorities.
An assault rifle and ammunition recovered during the joint-operation.
“Some of the attached properties were in the name of late Syed Ali Shah Geelani. These properties were attached in different districts of the Valley on the recommendations of State Investigation Agency (SIA) which is today carrying out raids in 20 places of Badgam, Pulwama, Awantipora, Kulgam and Srinagar district”, officials said.
District magistrate (DM), Srinagar, ordered the sealing three properties of the JeI, including two-storey residential structures constructed over 17 marlas of proprietary land at Barzulla Srinagar.
SIA has identified 188 JeI properties across the union territory which have either been notified or are under the process of being notified for further legal action.
