Srinagar: Barely 24 hours after the pictures showing four terrorists wielding AK Rifles went viral on social media, the security forces on Sunday arrested all four newly recruited terrorists with arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to a Defence Ministry statement, “they were arrested in the upper reaches of Kalaroos forests in Handwara while they were attempting to exfiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC).”
The defence ministry statement further said, “upon receiving a tip-off about the terrorists being guided by three Al Badr terrorists, the security forces including personnel from 41 Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the state police laid an ambush and trapped them.”
After a brief gunfight, the terrorists surrendered, said an official.
“The three other terrorists managed to flee and a search operation is on to trace them,” the statement added.
Till reports last came in, the search operation was on in the area.
