Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta stated on Sunday that the Union Budget 2026-27 will benefit all by enhancing roads and tourism infrastructure. Speaking about the budget, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta highlighted its alignment with the success of earlier religious and cultural corridor projects, which have driven inclusive growth across various states and regions.

He said, “Overall, this budget has covered all sectors for comprehensive development. Previously, we have seen corridor projects such as the Ram Mandir Corridor and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which have benefited people. Similarly, new projects have been added to boost infrastructure and promote tourism across the states, as highlighted in the budget.”

The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, presented the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament. She characterised it as a Yuva Shakti-driven budget, emphasising the Government’s ‘Sankalp’ to prioritise the poor, underprivileged, and disadvantaged.

The Finance Minister said that India will continue taking confident steps towards Viksit Bharat, balancing ambition with inclusion. She explained that as a growing economy with increasing trade and capital needs, India must stay deeply integrated with global markets by exporting more and attracting stable long-term investment.

She also noted the external environment challenges, mentioning that trade and multilateralism face threats, while access to resources and supply chains has been disrupted. Furthermore, new technologies are transforming production systems and increasing demands on water, energy, and critical minerals.

The Finance Minister added that since the Prime Minister’s announcement on Independence Day in 2025, over 350 reforms have been implemented. These include GST simplification, notification of Labour Codes, and rationalisation of mandatory Quality Control Orders. Additionally, High-Level Committees have been formed, and the Central Government is collaborating with State Governments on deregulation and reducing compliance requirements.
